Abstract

This presentation has been designed to include: defining the population (use of the term "hard of hearing"); recognizing common myths about hearing loss; pinpointing potential communication barriers; and identifying a menu of support services for students who are hard of hearing. Personal adjustment issues will be discussed in order to provide a better understanding of how hearing loss can affect an individual's capacity and willingness to request and use appropriate support services in postsecondary settings.
