Abstract
All across the United States (and internationally) there has been
increasing interest in the First/Freshman Year College Experience (FYE).
FYE is a comprehensive approach for first year students that addresses the
total needs of the student. One component of the FYE is the Freshman
Seminar. Seminars can be tailored to meet the needs of deaf and hearing
students in postsecondary education. This panel will discuss a model for
First Year Seminars from an administrative, logistical and faculty point of
view. Parts of the course that can be used in small group meetings with
students, as well as working with faculty who teach deaf and hard of
hearing students when a course is not possible, will be discussed.
