pepnet 2 joins the nation in celebrating Deaf History Month!

March 13 kicks off this celebration on the 25th anniversary of the successful conclusion of Deaf President Now - the student-led protest at Gallaudet University. The entire nation watched the nation’s only liberal arts university for the deaf respond after yet another hearing president was chosen to lead the institution. Led by students Bridgetta Bourne, Jerry Covell, Greg Hlibok and Tim Rarus, the protest succeeded in getting I. King Jordan named as the first-ever deaf president of Gallaudet University.
Deaf History Month will conclude on April 15, 2013, commemorating the date of the opening of the American School for the Deaf, the first public deaf school in the United States started in 1817. http://deafness.about.com/cs/events/p/historymonth.htm
