National Task Force Reports on Quality of Services in the Postsecondary Education for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students: Report on Basic Academic Preparation

The National Task Force Reports individually and collectively discuss some of the issues identified in the mid-1990s that administrators, faculty and staff, and college students who are deaf or hard of hearing faced. Although some practices may have changed since these reports were published, pepnet 2 is maintaining them to offer an historical perspective. This report focuses on basic academic preparation. PEPNet has been a valuable resource to the University of Arizona for years. Using the listserv, we’ve been able to connect with other disability and higher education professionals and stay in up-to-date on emerging issues in deafness and education nationwide. We’ve even been able to locate and hire interpreters for study abroad assignments using the PEPNet network! Most recently, we were in need of information on amplification systems to support our city-wide book festival. The PEPNet team connected us with a colleague with extensive knowledge in assistive listening devices. Using the resources she provided, we found a perfect solution and were even able to serve as a source of information for another service provider who was seeking similar information. PEPNet is like having a team of colleagues in your pocket.
