This one and a half hour TeleTraining was designed to share information about
video conferencing technology and equipment and how it may be used to provide
interpreting accommodations via remote services on multi-campuses, in rural areas,
and where it might be difficult to find interpreters. Participants will be
invited to explore the possibility of providing interpreting accommodations
through the use of video conferencing technology. Specific technology and equipment
options will be discussed, and the application or use of this technology will be explored.
Some of the topics that were discussed in this TeleTraining are:
- The specific equipment/technology that might be used to provide remote interpreting services
- Troubleshooting; problems that might be encountered; the pros and cons of providing remote interpreting services
- Collaborating with technology departments to provide remote interpreting services
- When should video conferencing technology be considered for the provision of interpreting services
- Training interpreters in the use of video conferencing technology for interpreting services
- Training students and consumers in the use of video conferencing technology for remote interpreting services
